Mozilla makes it possible to try Firefox OS 2.5 on Android phone

Mozilla has launched Firefox OS 2.5 Developer Preview, and the most eye-catching thing is that you can try the OS on your Android phone by simply installing an APK file. The app, which Mozilla calls as 'experimental', replaces several elements of the Android homescreen with Firefox OS elements and also comes with a set of Firefox OS apps for calls, messages, emails, and even an app store. It's actually a launcher with several bundled apps.

Mozilla has mentioned that it had employed several workarounds to provide a consistent user experience to those using Android devices and as such one will find that the Android navigation buttons are overlaid atop the UI. However the back button cannot be used for navigation since Firefox OS employs a single home button.

So if you think that your stock Android user interface has become pretty boring and you can't wait to give a fresh new look to your device, then download the apk from Mozilla's website and become a Firefox OS user now.

P.S. There might be bugs lurking inside.
